To celebrate World Sight Day, pupils and staff had a non-uniform day and wore a variety of eyewear, including glasses, eye patches and sunglasses. The day helped raise awareness of visual impairment and encouraged us to think about the experiences of people living with sight loss and also the importance of keeping our eyes healthy. At Sythwood, we value inclusion and celebrate what makes our community special. Well done to all who helped make the day a success! 👓💙

What a fantastic way to bring learning to life! 🌟 Year 1 have been exploring their senses in Science and have been using popcorn as part of their learning. Today, they even cooked popcorn in a pan on a portable hob! The children felt the kernels before they were cooked, listened carefully to the popping sounds and enjoyed the delicious smell as the popcorn was made. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that helped them use their senses in a real-life context.

Did you know that we use Connecting Circles at Sythwood? For many chidlren, and teachers, this is their favourite part of the week. As part of our restorative approach, Connecting Circles create a space where children can slow down, connect with their classmates, share a smile, celebrate achievements and openly discuss any challenges they may be facing. By talking things through together, our pupils learn empathy, respect and the value of strong, positive relationships.
