Spotlight on History at Sythwood! From our curious explorers in Nursery to our analytical thinkers in Year 6, History is shining across our school. Our young historians are busy asking great questions, exploring evidence, making connections, learning from the past and thinking like real historians every day. Take a look at these fantastic photos showcasing History learning in action across all year groups! Nursery – Learning about Remembrance Day and the importance of honouring others. Reception – Exploring Remembrance and comparing how they’ve grown from babies to now. Year 1 – Recreating houses from the past while learning about the Great Fire of London. Year 2 – Comparing the lives of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Year 3 – Getting hands-on in an Egyptian workshop and decoding hieroglyphics. Year 4 – Investigating and analysing historical sources from the Indus Valley civilisation. Year 5 – Stepping back in time through an immersive Viking workshop. Year 6 – Exploring the achievements and legacy of Ancient Greece.
