Sports premium spending review 2014/15

Employed PE teacher to run intra school competitions in a range of sports.

Every child in the school took part in intra school competitions every half term. We developed a whole school house points system to raise the profile of sport in school and encouraged children to develop their skills in a range of sports. We have seen a 50% increase in participation outside of curriculum time.

Paid local clubs to run taster sessions to build links.

Children were exposed to new a sport which has led to an increase in the numbers of Sythwood children taking part in local clubs.

Purchased new sporting equipment.

Children are experiencing more positive play times due to a wider range of sporting equipment available e.g. badminton, skipping ropes and netball. The increase in appropriate sporting equipment has meant that the children have more opportunity to develop their skills.

Developed leadership in children

Children in Year 6 were given the opportunity to lead, manage and organise sporting events. They attended regular training sessions with the PE teacher to enhance their leadership skills and develop their knowledge of various sports and their rules.
