Year 6 Reading Spine

We have carefully selected these books which we will read with Year 6 over the course of the year. The books link with our wider curriculum learning, expose children to fantastic writing and represent the many cultures in our community. Click on the image below for further details:

Year 6 Knowledge Organisers

Our knowledge organisers give a detailed summary of what your child is learning in history, geography and science. They are a very useful tool to help you ask your child about what they have learnt in school.

As we are currently preparing for SATs, we will not be learning science this half term.

Preparing for SATs

This half term, our focus is making sure that every child feels ready and confident for SATs week in May. To help them prepare, many of you ordered the CGP revision guides - please encourage your child to work through these at home as well as when they come to the after school booster sessions.

Homework

Reading

In Year 6, we are passionate about reading and expect children to read at home five times a week. We allow the children to complete their own reading diary which must be brought into school every day.

Spellings

Click here for the Year 5/6 spelling words. You can really help your child by help them to practise their spellings at home and by encouraging them to use the words when you talk to them.

Maths

Throughout the year, we focus on different maths facts. Once they become automatic for children, it allows them to quickly recall the facts when completing more complex maths equations.

Times tables and equivalente fractions, decimals and percentages are both very useful facts for the children to learn. Click on the images below to download a timestable grid or fractions, decimals and percentages facts:
