Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Intent

Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. This helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens. At Sythwood we understand that children grow up in a complex and ever-changing world and are exposed to an increasing range of influences. Explicit teaching of PSHE enables our children to be happy, safe, healthy, confident and responsible members of society who have a strong sense of self-worth and resilience. They reflect on their own experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially. They also find out about their responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and members of the community. Through RSE, the children learn to understand and appreciate themselves and their changing bodies. This allows them to grow in confidence and addresses any misconceptions that they may have, making sure that the are happy and safe.
